Exploring Encinitas : San Diego Botanic Garden (part 1)

The site that now houses the San Diego Botanic Garden (formerly Quail Botanic Gardens) goes back quite a ways. You can read about it all here.

Just off Quail Gardens Drive in Encinitas, you’ll find this 37 acre urban retreat.

The Garden offers many different areas highlighting various gardens from around the world, including a South African garden, a Mediterranean garden, and the nation’s largest collection of bamboo.

Also within the grounds are a few areas for the kiddos to explore. The star of the accompanying video is “Seeds of Wonder,” one of the two areas for kids.

“Seeds of Wonder” features a model train, a water table, a playhouse with a play-kitchen and books to read, a sandbox, and several nooks for you and the little ones to explore.

Here is a link to the Botanic Garden’s website. Take a look as they do offer special events throughout the year.
